there are pretty damn good guitars at pawn shops and ceap ones at guitar center suck badly.
Sit down with them and do not use language like "damn" and "suck". Ask them why they are concerned about using a pawn shop. Listen without interrupting. Encourage them to go with you to look at what there is in stock. Ask the pawn shop owner if he is sure the guitar is not stolen. Show your parents that you are willing to do a few extra chores if they will give this a chance. Good Luck.
Just do your research, if you find that one of the guitars at the pawn shop is 100$ but is 1000$ new it might not be a good deal and they might not want to get it. also look for good brands, like gibson, and fender...I'm not really sure what kind of a pawn shop this is but if they are just really old used guitars that are still in good condition then a pawn shop can be a great place to find cheap okay quality guitars. also look online for what to look for when getting a used guitar, I'm sure there will be some guidelines on what to look for.
I'm not sure what their concern is.
What do you mean by 'safe'? Or, what do they mean by safe?
Tell them that I, a senior citizen, married, own my home, three kids, three grandkids and another on the way, retired Navy Captain, frequently shop at pawn shops in San Diego, and have never felt unsafe and have never had any problem.
If where you live, pawn shops are concentrated in unsafe neighborhoods, that is a different story entirely.
