Why Are Those Japanese Luts Dolls So Expensive...?!?

I was interested in purchasing one because they are just so beautiful to look at, but I was horrified when I saw how much money these dolls go for! Its not as if they are made of porcelain or anything, so why are they so pricey?

Can anybody explain to me why this is...?

These dolls are ball jointed and customizable - that's what makes them more expensive. They are fully customizable, with wigs, eyes, heads and limbs being exchangable and changable. You can actually pick a personality for your doll and then change it if you want. For instance, an English schoolgirl could become goth or a fairy or some other fantasy figure.

Vinyl ball jointed dolls are cheaper than resin. You can find vinyl BJDs for around $100 or less.

Every part is hand-cast, and the company has the money to hire very skilled sculptors.

because unlike every thing we use these are made by hand

  1. Hand casting and customizability can do very little to the price, I think it's because of the resin itself (main component - polyurethane, others are unknown due to being trademark). As a person who makes kig masks I can say why kig masks cost like 1000$ it's due to a fiberglass.
